It hasn’t been uncommon to see Metallica vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield sporting a cowboy hat over the years, and in a weird way, his choice in headwear may have helped manifest his latest project.
Deadline report that the legendary thrash metal frontman has signed on for an as-yet unspecified role in the upcoming turn-of-the-century dark western thriller, ‘The Thicket‘. That film will adapt the titular Joe R. Lansdale novel.
Peter Dinklage (‘Game Of Thrones‘) and Juliette Lewis (‘Natural Born Killers‘) will lead the cast of the Elliot Lester (‘Blitz‘, etc.) directed feature, which is currently in production in Calgary, Alberta. The finished product will eventually premiere on streaming service Tubi.
The following synopsis was provided for the plot:
“Set in west Texas, the film follows a boy who, after his sister is kidnapped by a violent killer known only as Cut Throat Bill, enlists a fierce bounty hunter named Reginald Jones who grudgingly becomes the leader of the group of outcasts searching for the stolen girl.”
Hetfield‘s last notable onscreen role was the part of Officer Bob Hayward in the 2019 Ted Bundy film ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile‘.
