Pantera bassist/vocalist Rex Brown has issued a statement regarding his current health situation. Brown was absent during the celebrated band’s set at the ‘Knotfest Chile‘ festival in Santiago, Chile yesterday, December 11th. Two shows have since taken place since Brown stepped down from the tour, with Derek Engemann (Philip H Anselmo & the Illegals, ex-Cattle Decapitation) and Down bassist Bobby Landgraf having filled in for him.
Initial radio reports emerging from Chile yesterday mentioned that Brown‘s absence was due to him contracting COVID-19. Brown himself has since confirmed those rumors. A statement issued by the Pantera camp and Brown today (December 12th), reads as follows:
“Thanks to all of our fans & everyone at Knotfest Chile for an amazing show.
Thanks to Derek Engenmann & Bobby Landgraf for handling bass duties last night.A note from Rex: “I caught a very mild strain of Covid, but because of our own protocols, I simply do not wanna risk getting my brothers or the crew sick!! I’m feeling better & am on my way to a speedy recovery. Merry Fckn Christmas & see you all next year!”
