The Black Dahlia Murder Members Comment On Recently Playing First Show Since The Death Of Trevor Strnad

Several members of melodic death metal outfit The Black Dahlia Murder have commented on their return to the live stage this past weekend. That concert, which took place this past Friday (October 28th) at Saint Andrew’s Hall in Detroit, MI, marked the group’s first performance since the death of their vocalist Trevor Strnad this past May.

Rather than auditioning a new vocalist to replace him, the band kept things in-house, promoting guitarist/vocalist Brian Eschbach to lead vocal duties. Former guitarist Ryan Knight rejoined the outfit to take over Eshbach‘s vacated guitar role in the group. Eschbach himself stated:

“Can’t really find the right words to express our gratitude for the continued love and support that we’ve received. Thank you Detroit and everyone who made journeys to be with us last night as we took our first step forward into the future.

LETS GO!”

Drummer Alan Cassidy offered:

“Last night was the first show back for us. It was an exciting, stressful, and relieving show. The heaviness of honoring @trevortbdm and continuing without him made putting on the best show for our fans, him, and ourselves as important as ever. It was better show than we could have hoped for and felt amazing to see the overwhelming energetic support from everyone there and get a chance to be back on the stage doing what we know best. #theblackdahliamurder #trevorstrnad #metalbladerecords #blastfiends”

Fan-filmed footage of the band’s set from that night, which served as a celebration of Strnad‘s life, can be found here.
