Slipknot and Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor has acquired the rights to the ‘Famous Monsters Of Film‘ publication and associated brands. That horror and sci-fi obsessed publication was founded back in 1958, printing the final issue of its original run back in 1983. The publication has since experienced several relaunches since.

Rolling Stone report that Taylor—a lifelong fan of horror—announced his acquisition of the brand at yesterday’s (October 15th) ‘Son Of A Monsterpalooza‘ convention in Burbank, CA. Current plans have him relaunching the magazine as well branching out into toys, film production, and conventions.

Taylor made the purchase with his business partner Eben McGarr. The pair also purchased the rights to several affiliated ventures, including Captain Company and the story of Famous Monsters‘ late founding editor Forrest Ackerman.

In addition to making the original run of the publication available online in digital format, Taylor hopes to create some horror characters and toys of his own under the brand’s umbrella.

He also intends to continue to pursue getting some of the several horror scripts he has written over the years into production via the Famous Monsters branding as well.
