Serj Tankian, vocalist for multi-platium Armenian-American metal oddballs System Of A Down, has released a third single from his forthcoming EP “Perplex Cities“. An October 21st release date currently stands for that effort. “I Spoke Up” is the latest track to emerge, with Tankian himself describing it as being, “more electronic, subtle and deeper in terms of its layers of presentation musically.”
In other news, Tankian will be debuting his new orchestral suite “Invocations” at The Soraya at the California State University in Los Angeles, CA on April 29th. He had the following to say about that:
“‘Invocations‘ is an operatic suite that can best be described as music that calls on spirits to co-inspire and wander. The music for ‘Invocations‘ was written over a long period of time, over many years, composing for film and being inspired by the orchestral ensemble and choir. I find these pieces from all of the compositions I’ve ever done, they invoke a spirituality in us. They invoke this connection in us, that music is meant to do.”
Tankian also opened his most recent art exhibition this past weekend. He has dubbed that presentation ‘Shapeshift – A Dynamic Dive Into Diversity‘. It will be on display at Stephanie’s Gallery in La Cañada Flintridge, California through to November 01st.
