Living Colour Digitally Release Recent Live Performance Of “Cult Of Personality” With Steve Vai


Funk rock veterans Living Colour have released a video for a recent live rendition of their signature track, “Cult Of Personality“. That song appeared on the band’s 2x multi-platinum 1988 debut album, “Vivid“.

This featured performance of the song took place at this year’s ‘Rock In Rio‘ festival on September 02nd in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Joining them for the song was guitar hero Steve Vai. In addition to the below video, audio of the performance has also emerged on leading digital service providers.

Guitarist Vernon Reid commented:

“In celebration of 30th anniversary of Living Colour‘s first appearance in BRAZIL, which also was Doug Wimbish‘s first live appearance with the band, we are releasing a special edition version of ‘Cult Of Personality‘ featuring our special guest in Rio de Janeiro our dear friend, the extraordinary Mr. Steve Vai on additional guitar. Engineered & mixed by the original producer of the song Mr. Ed Stasium.”

In addition to the below set-closing performance, that aforementioned show also saw Vai join Living Colour onstage for covers of Led Zeppelin‘s “Rock And Roll” and The Jimi Hendrix Experience‘s “Crosstown Traffic“, along with Living Colour‘s “This Is The Life“.
