The Convalescence Debut “79 Years” Music Video

Theatrical blackened death metal outfit The Convalescence have released a horror-themed music video for their new song “79 Years“. That track will appear on the band’s forthcoming as-yet untitled fifth studio album, which they recently finished recording with producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, All That Remains). At present they are eyeing a 2023 release for that effort.

Speaking of this first single from it, vocalist Keith Wampler shared:

“A lot of our lyrics are horror inspired, sometimes it’s some kind of scene that I think of and I use the lyrics to tell that story. Sometimes I use inspiration from horror movies or places we visit on tour.

For example, for ‘79 Years‘; we had the opportunity to join LT-TV for a paranormal investigation of Pennhurst in August 2021, after researching the history and finding some horrific things we felt that we should tell that story as a part of the new album.

We even ended up filming several parts of the music video inside Pennhurst during the investigation. After spending a night inside, I can’t think of a more unnerving or intense place that I’ve ever been to.”

Nate Thompson directed the below music video for the track. As previously reported, the band have been booked to open for Carnifex and Chelsea Grin‘s fall European/UK tour. That trek will find Carnifex performing their debut album “Dead In My Arms” in full each night, while Chelsea Grin will be playing their entire 2008 self-titled debut EP. Bodysnatcher and Varials will also appear on that run.
