Slipknot‘s vocalist Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root have been discussing starting a new project together. In addition to their roles in the masked multi-platinum metal phenomenon, the pair also previously played together in Stone Sour, until Root was ousted from that group back in 2014.
Having since been able to co-exist within Slipknot and mend fences, Taylor recently told Metal Hammer that the duo have been discussing a new site project together. He said of that:
“He and I are very different people and we were both going through our own shit in life. We reconnected, and we’re actually talking about doing some stuff on the side, outside of Slipknot and Stone Sour. It’s cool to find your friend again and realize that you can find your way back to people that you care about.
Honestly, I can’t sit here and say that I wasn’t responsible for some of the bad feelings. That can only come with self-reflection, and the fact that the things that were going on in my life rippled and affected other people. Once you own up to that, you can start to mend bridges by showing people that you are truly sorry.”
Arriving long before that project potentially hatches will be the seventh studio album from Slipknot, “The End, So Far“. Roadrunner Records have that effort slated for a September 30th release date. You can find the band out touring on it later this year at the following shows:
