Katatonia Readying 10th Anniversary Edition Of “Dead End Kings”, New Vinyl Reissues Of “City Burials” & “The Great Cold Distance”

Several reissues from the catalog of Swedish progressive gothic metallers Katatonia are planned for the coming months. Among them is a 10th anniversary deluxe edition of “Dead End Kings“, which will see a release in both CD/DVD and LP formats. That album’s original bonus tracks “Second” and “The Act Of Darkening” will both appear the CD/DVD release of that set. Also featured on that package format will be a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album.

The LP pressing will instead feature a half-speed master of the album itself, sans the aforementioned bonus tracks. Vocalist/guitarist Jonas Renkse commented:

“Looking back on ‘Dead End Kings‘ 10 years after its release brings memories of busy and good times. We were eager to keep the momentum that we had built around ‘Night Is The New Day‘ and I remember we finished off the mastering just in time (I think it was actually the same day!) for the press listening session we had in London. Some songs on the album turned out to be Katatonia evergreens that we keep in our live setlists to this day. I also must mention the cover art (and interior as well) that is probably our most ambitious. Took a long time to finish but the result is a classic. Happy 10 years to DEK!”

New artwork from Travis Smith will complement both packages. You can look for that in stores on November 14th. Also in the pipeline from the band are new half-speed vinyl masters of their 2006 album “The Great Cold Distance” on October 14th and their latest album, 2020’s “City Burials“, on September 09th. Pre-orders for all can be found here.
