Sparta, the Texan outfit led by former At The Drive In guitarist Jim Ward, have announced an October 14th release date for their new self-titled album. Dine Alone Records will be dropping that effort, which finds Thursday, etc. drummer Tucker Rule handling the percussion duties throughout.
Two songs from that 12-song outing have just gone up online, including “Mind Over Matter“, which features a guest spot from Kayleigh Goldsworthy, and “Spiders“, which finds Angelica Garcia lending her talents.
Ward commented of “Mind Over Matter“, stating it was “a spitfire of a riff that screamed hope and possibilities. The music directed the lyrics, and I wrote about anybody being able to do anything, hope grown from love — a direct call to myself to write about and sing about the good things in life. The extremely talented Kayleigh Goldsworthy added harmonies and sealed the vibe — one of my favorites from this album.”
