Pioneering German thrash metal band Sodom have released a new song celebrating their 40th anniversary. That track is titled “1982” and appears on as a bonus track on their upcoming anniversary box set, “40 Years At War – The Greatest Hell Of Sodom“. The band re-recorded songs from throughout their career for that aforementioned effort, which Steamhammer/SPV have slated for an October 28th release date.
The group’s vocalist/bassist Tom Angelripper had the following to say about this reflective new track:
“At first, we just wanted to be a band, the music was almost an afterthought. We were against everything and everyone, wanted to shock the world and the more people hated us, the more motivated we got. Nobody would have expected that 40 years later, we’re still alive and playing. Those 40 years have gone by in a flash, but we continue to look forward.”
