Dance Gavin Dance Crack Top Ten Of The Billboard 200 With New Album “Jackpot Juicer”

Jackpot Juicer“, the latest album from Sacramento, CA-based post-hardcore band Dance Gavin Dance, enjoyed a healthy first week on the charts. That tenth studio full-length from the outfit notched the group their first entry in the top ten of the Billboard 200, opening at #8 on that chart.

During its first week of availability, “Jackpot Juicer” moved 33,500 equivalent album units, 22,500 of which were attributed to sales (14,000 copies of which were vinyl.) An additional 8,000 copies came from streaming equivalent albums. The group commented:

“Thirty-three thousand total albums sold in the first week! Thank you for tremendously supporting ‘Jackpot Juicer,’ our 10th studio album. This has been our highest charting album to date and the first time that Dance Gavin Dance has entered the Billboard Top Ten–a huge accomplishment for any artist. Thank you for sticking with us. This album and its success is forever dedicated to the memory of Tim Feerick.”

The months leading up to the album’s release were complicated to say the least. Bassist Tim Feerick passed away in April, while clean vocalist Tilian Pearson stepped down from the band in June in the face of a sexual misconduct allegations.

In light of those allegations, the group were removed from their summer tour with Coheed And Cambria & Mothica. In its place, Dance Gavin Dance lined up their ongoing headlining trek with Royal Coda and Body Thief. With Pearson currently out of the fold, the group’s guitarist Andrew Wells has shifted to handling the clean vocal parts, while Veil Of Maya‘s Marc Okubo has stepped in to take over Wells‘ guitar parts for the trek.
