At this point, it’s pretty much tradition that Rob Zombie‘s headlining summer tours will feature a live cover with members of the support acts. Last night’s (July 21st) stop of the just launched ‘Freaks On Parade Tour‘ was no exception. Members of both Static-X and Powerman 5000 joined Zombie onstage for renditions of White Zombie‘s “Thunder Kiss ’65” and the Ramones‘ Blitzkrieg Bop at the Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center in Noblesville, IN.
Zombie is of course no stranger to Ramones, having co-produced a 2003 tribute album to the Queens, NY punk crew titled “We’re A Happy Family: A Tribute To The Ramones“. That effort also featured his cover of “Blitzkrieg Bop“.
Notably, these new live covers mark one of the rare few times Zombie has been joined onstage by his younger brother Spider One, vocalist of Powerman 5000. You can watch fan-filmed footage of that below.
