Multi-platinum country singer Carrie Underwood has covered Ozzy Osbourne‘s 1991 power ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home” for Apple Music Sessions. That song was co-written by Osbourne, his guitarist Zakk Wylde and late Motörhead vocalist/bassist Lemmy Kilmister and originally appeared on Osbourne‘s 4x multi-platinum album “No More Tears“.
Underwood is no stranger to hard rock, having covered several Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith & Mötley Crüe tracks live in the past. She also even recently joined Guns N’ Roses onstage for a pair of shows in London earlier this summer.
Underwood commented of her rendition of the Osbourne track:
“I have always been an Ozzy Osbourne fan and ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home‘ is one of my all-time favorite songs. I’ve always thought it felt a lot like a country song, and I’ve wanted to cover it for a long time. This was a really fun opportunity for me to be able to finally make that happen. I hope we’ve done Ozzy proud and I hope he likes it.”
