Two shows into their long-awaited reunion tour, Zack de la Rocha, vocalist for outspoken rap metal rabble-rousers Rage Against The Machine, appears to have suffered a serious leg injury onstage. The band returned to the stage tonight (July 11th) for the first of two back-to-back shows at the United Center in Chicago, IL.
According to fans in attendance, Zack was ultimately forced to finish out the majority of the set while sat atop a monitor after suffering an unspecified injury while performing the fourth song of the band’s set, “Bullet In The Head“.
He was initially helped off stage by the crew members, before returning to finish the show seated. Footage shared by Chevelle vocalist/guitarist Pete Loeffler, who was in attendance in the crowd, saw de la Rocha address the audience on his condition briefly, before going on to gut out the rest of the performance.
Prior to launching into “Testify“, de la Rocha told the audience:
“I don’t know what happened to my leg right now, straight up, but you know what? We’re gonna keep this fucking shit going. If I have to crawl across this stage, we’re gonna play for ya’ll tonight. We came too fucking far.”
