Anthrax To Release 40th Anniversary Livestream Concert On Blu-ray, Etc. In July, Debut “Aftershock” Live Video

East Coast thrash metal legends Anthrax will be releasing their 40th anniversary livestream performance on Blu-ray, CD and digital formats this summer. That concert originally aired on July 19th of last year and was filmed at The Den in Los Angeles, CA. Additional bonus footage will accompany his upcoming home release, including previously unseen videos from the band’s rehearsal and a walking tour of New York City, NY conducted by guitarist Scott Ian. The latter will find him elaborating on the various spots that played a pivotal role in the band’s history.

The set has been christened “XL” and it will arrive on July 15th via Megaforce/Nuclear Blast. Alongside word of the release comes the below video of a performance of the track “Aftershock” from it. The band commented of the anniversary set as follows:

Drummer Charlie Benante:

“Forty years doesn’t feel like 40 years. Sometimes I have to remind myself about how long this strange trip has been. I enjoy playing these songs, they’re such a huge part of my life, and I know for a lot of our fans, they play a big part in theirs as well.”

Bassist Frank Bello:

“For me, each song was like reading through a scrapbook of my life and the band’s career. Specifically, ‘Madhouse,’ one of my first recordings with the band, and then to where we are now with ‘Blood Eagle Wings.’ What a great ride it’s been, I’m very grateful.”

Joey Belladonna:

“Even though we were performing in a studio with just the crew there, we played that set like we were in front of 50,000 screaming fans. I felt like we made a full-on connection with everyone watching from their homes or wherever, and that they connected with us. It was quite an intense experience.”
