Red Hot Chili Peppers Debut At #1 On The Billboard 200, Notch Up Best First Week For A Rock Album Since January Of 2021

The Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ 12th studio album “Unlimited Love” has officially landed at #1 on the Billboard 200. During its first week of availability, the latest LP from the funk rock icons managed to shift an impressive 97,500 equivalent album units in the United States alone. Of that sum, 82,500 were attributed to album sales (38,500 on vinyl alone,) while streaming equivalent albums comprised 14,500 (18.96 million streams of songs from the album) and track equivalent albums accounted for 500.

It’s the first record from the Californian outfit to top the Billboard 200 since 2006’s “Stadium Arcadium” opened with 442,000 copies sold in the United States. Billboard.com report that amassed sum of this latest album is the largest first week performance for a rock album since Paul McCartney‘s “McCartney III‘ hit the charts back in January of 2021.

Unlimited Love” found the band reuniting with returning guitarist/vocalist John Frusciante and producer Rick Rubin.
