New Dethklok Album To Coincide With Upcoming ‘Metalocalypse’ Movie

It looks like the upcoming movie centered around fictional animated metal band Dethklok isn’t the only thing in store for ‘world’s greatest cultural force.’ Adult Swim green-lit an upcoming film to close out the ‘Metalocalypse‘ series last year with Brendon Small and Tommy Blancha at the helm.

According to real-life Dethklok member Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, ex-Testament, etc.), the accompanying soundtrack to the film, is taking shape more as an actual Dethklok album and some touring may take place in support of it.

A recent chat with Sobre La Dosis (see below) saw Hoglan state of the upcoming project.

“One of the larger projects that’s coming up really directly as well is Dethklok is working on a movie. So that’s gonna entail some definite intent from me. You know, I’m deeply involved in that, so we’re working on the next album, the soundtrack – well the movie doesn’t quite have a soundtrack to it – but we’re gonna have the movie, we’re gonna have the album for Dethklok, and I would imagine some touring as well.”

WaterTower Music will be releasing the aforementioned ‘soundtrack’ album. While there’s no firm release date yet for the upcoming HBO Max premiere of the ‘Metalocalypse‘ film, the following plot synopsis was previously shared for it:

“The power-hungry TRIBUNAL unveils their secret and deadly ‘Falconback Project’ as the world grows in embattled chaos and the menacing Doomstar breaches the Earth’s atmosphere while the mysterious and twisted dissent of a band member threatens the future of Dethklok.

Picking up directly after the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth: Can Dethklok choose between their egos and the greater good of the world to embark on a gauntlet of dangers that will try their very souls and finally write the song that will be their salvation?
