Absent In Body (Amenra, Neurosis, Ex-Sepultura) Debut “Rise From Ruins”

Absent In Body have debuted their new single “Rise From Ruins” online. That song received its first public airing this past weekend at AEW‘s ‘Revolution‘ PPV event, serving as the new theme song for the House Of Black wrestling stable. That faction consists of metal-loving wrestler Malakai Black, Brody King (also of God’s Hate) and Buddy Matthews.

Absent In Body consist of Amenra‘s guitarist Mathieu J. Vandekerckhove & vocalist Colin H. Van Eeckhout on vocals/bass, Neurosis vocalist/guitarist Scott Kelly and Cavalera Conspiracy, etc./ex-Sepultura drummer Iggor Cavalera.

Speaking of how this track came to be, Vandekerckhove offered:

“The blueprints of most AIB songs were made when I was on tour with Amenra. Because of the long journeys, I had a lot of free time on the bus. Different landscapes every day. The emptiness of the mountains, the desolate empty cities at night… At one day, when recording the album, I had too much negative news and havoc on my socials shoved into my face. And the riff to this song was an instinctive reaction to that. I fought it off. This song is definitely a reflection of that moment, that day.”

The song will grace the band’s forthcoming debut album “Plague God“, due out March 25th on Relapse Records. You can find a stream of it as well as a footage of it being used as the entrance for the House Of Black below.
