Volbeat Reveal Their New Single “Becoming” Is A Tribute To Late Entombed, Etc. Frontman LG Petrov

Last week Volbeat premiered their new single “Becoming” from their as-yet unreleased eighth studio album “Servant Of The Mind“. This week the band revealed that the song is in fact a tribute to late Entombed, etc. frontman Lars-Göran “LG” Petrov. The band’s vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen paid tribute to his fallen friend in the below video, offering the following of him and “Becoming“:

“It is, as you probably noticed, a tribute to the mighty Entombed and our good friend L.G. Petrov who sadly passed away. But, yeah, it’s one of those riffs where you can definitely hear the inspiration from the ‘Clandestine‘ album, which were L.G.‘s favorite Entombed record—which is quite funny because he doesn’t sing on this album, but..

L.G. was a great guy, great humor, a great human being, a good friend. And wherever you are out there, friend, dear brother, I hope that you’re doing good down there or up there.

Let’s all raise our glasses for Mr. L.G.

Becoming‘ is for you, my dear friend. Cheers!”

Petrov passed away at the age of 49 in March of this year following a battle with bile duct cancer. “Servant Of The Mind” will be out on December 03rd through Republic Records.
