Psychosexual have been rebooted for a third time and will now be known as Psycho Synner going forward. The outfit are led by ex-Five Finger Death Punch drummer Jeremy Spencer, who performed as ‘Devil Daddy‘ in the outfit.
In 2019 Spencer launched the project under the name of Devil Daddy, releasing a since-deleted album titled “The Devil’s Music“. In July of 2020 he would then relaunch the project as a band as Psychosexual, releasing a divisive new album titled “Torch The Faith“,
In early 2021 Spencer would go on to pull down all of the band’s previously existing music, including that debut album, relaunching the outfit with a new single, “Devil From Hell“.
At the time Spencer said of the reboot:
“Nobody even really knows much about the other music, which I do like, but I think this is more appropriate of where we kind of wanna debut; this is what I wanted to be the first thing. So it’s kind of like a reboot — we’re starting over. I’ll release the other music down the road again, but this second record will technically be our first.”
While the band’s 2021 singles remain a part of Psycho Synner‘s catalog, the rest of their past material remains unavailable. In addition, Spencer has rebranded his ‘Devil Daddy‘ character to the new name of ‘Grym Synner‘. Spencer stated of this latest change:
“I chose [Psychosexual] because the song’s lyrics were primarily sex-oriented. So, when I formed a new rock band, I kept that name. However, once the new music became guitar-centric, it took on a more sinister style–less about sex and partying. Having originally released a collection of songs with little or no push or promotion, we’ve definitely found a musical approach that bespeaks who we’ve become…who we are!”
“This has been an evolutionary process. One song led to the next dozen. The next dozen led to what is now 90 songs. That’s right, ninety! We’ve grown into an eclectic, hard rock/heavy metal band–with touches of goth thrown in for good measure.
Psycho Synner is a perfect fit for the band’s heavier musical profile and, as a result, I’ve chosen the character name, Grym Synner. The upcoming simultaneous release of nine albums is not only revolutionary in itself, but each one perfectly encapsulates the band’s changing musical landscape. Something for everyone! And, I mean that in the best sense. Hardcore rockers and heavy metal fans will find exactly what they like and who we’ve come to be.”
