Metallica‘s “The Unforgiven” gets its time in the spotlight this week, with several variants of it from the band’s upcoming remastered deluxe box set edition of their self-titled album (aka ‘The Black Album‘) having newly been made available online. That set will be out on September 10th and additional details for it can be found here.

It will arrive alongside a tribute album titled “The Metallica Blacklist“, featuring 53 covers of songs from the album done by the likes of Ghost, Volbeat, Corey Taylor and many more.

First up from the deluxe self-titled album is a rough mix of “The Unforgiven” which was laid down at One On One Recording in Los Angeles, CA. This rough mix was completed on May 14th, 1991. Meanwhile, newly arriving from “The Metallica Blacklist” are Diet Cig and Ha*Ash‘s covers of the finished studio version of the aforementioend track.

In other news, Metallica have been announced for this year’s ‘Global Citizen Live‘ festival. Their performance will take place on September 25th with more details available here.
