Atreyu’s “Baptize” Failed To Open On The Billboard 200


Atreyu‘s new chapter appears to be off to a rocky start. Their newly-released eighth studio album “Baptize” failed to make the Billboard 200, ending a streak of relative success that the band have maintained throughout the majority of their career. The album, which marks their first since they parted ways with vocalist Alex Varkatzas last year, managed to move 3,500 copies during its first week of availability, 2,700 of which are attributed to pure sales.

Their previous album, 2018’s “In Our Wake” shifted roughly 8500 copies during its first week and landed at #72 on the Billboard 200. Of course 2021 is a much different climate than 2018 for artists worldwide and a lack of advance touring and conventional promotion can certainly impact an album’s sales. But given Atreyu‘s sizable lineup change, one can’t discount the lower sales being a potential reaction their fanbase either.
