A report over at has word that the NYC Parks Department are currently investigating this past weekend’s Madball headlined hardcore show at Tompkins Square in New York City for violating a number of New York state’s COVID safety guidelines. It would appear that the permit issued for the show had specified that those safety guidelines were to be upheld. A Parks Department representative told the aforementioned publication, “This matter is actively being investigated as the permit application filed and agreement appear to have been violated—future permits are in jeopardy.”

The concert itself is said to have been organized by Black N’ Blue Productions.

Original Story::

Madball headlined a packed show at Tompkins Square Park in New York City, NY yesterday, April 24th. That free outdoor performance also featured sets from Murphy’s Law, Bloodclot, Wisdom In Chains and The Captures. Those in attendance were encouraged to donate to the New York Firefighters Burn Center Foundation.

The performance did not appear to adhere to current NYC guidelines for public gatherings, which have a soft limitation of 200 people outdoors and a hard limitation of 500 people outdoors if shown proof of a negative COVID-19 diagnosis. Bloodclot‘s John Joseph estimated there were 3,000 in attendance and has since addressed the backlash of the show not respecting current social distancing and public safety guidelines amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He stated via social media:

“Yesterday in Tompkins Square Park well over 2000 peeps came out. Free show for the People by the People. It was a blast! We raised $ for the FDNY Burn Unit, and fed people organic plant based eats.

And let me say this – to all those talking shit. For the last year in NYC there were protests – tens and thousands of people in the streets – some rioting and looting engaging in bias attacks – on 4/20 weed day – thousands filled Washington Square Park – sharing blunts and weed pipes. Nobody said shit. This was our PROTEST – OUR RALLY. People who didn’t want to come – stayed away. Good – nobody missed their ass.

Wanna thank Cousin Joe and The Black-n-Blue crew for doing an amazing job. All the bands killed it The Captures, Wisdom In Chains, Murphy’s Law, and the KINGS of NYHC Madball. PMA was had – smiling faces everywhere – we all needed this! I hope other cities do the same.”

He further stated:

“We had close to 3000 people at the show yesterday in Tompkins Square Park – Everyone had a great time – thank you to all the bands that played and thanks to all those who came out I live streamed it for those who couldn’t make it – everybody have a great Sunday”

Wisdom In Chains offered:

“Yesterday at #tompkinssquarepark in #nyc was a great time. Thank you @bnbproductions for throwing us on and doing all the work with the city to make this event happen. It was our honor to be a part of something that was so obviously special, and from the words of so many there, it was so necessary for so many peoples well being and mental health. Respect to all the other bands who played @madballnyc @bloodclotofficial and @johnjosephcromag @murphyslawnyc and @creepynyc and @thecapturersnyc also respect to all of the staff, the Park officials, and the great city of New York. #photography by @kevinwilsonnyc”
