Staind’s Aaron Lewis On His New Solo Material: “It’s Somewhere Between Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ And Billie Eilish”

Staind frontman Aaron Lewis has several music projects in the works. Among them a new solo country album which will be followed by the recording and release of Staind‘s eighth studio album—their first since 2011’s self-titled opus. Beyond that however, he also has another batch of material that he penned amid the COVID-19 pandemic which may wind up being its own thing.

He recently told Billboard of that:

“It’s like 30 ideas, but they don’t fit with anything that’s going on right now. They don’t fit Staind. They don’t fit with my country thing. It’s somewhere between Pink Floyd‘s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon‘ and Billie Eilish — very dreamscape-y, very ethereal. The musical landscape is quite simple and sparse; there’s a lot of stuff going on without much stuff going on. It’ll be much more focused around melody.”

In the more immediate future for Staind are their forthcoming pair of streaming concert events and their new live album, “Live: It’s Been Awhile“. That latter effort captures a show the band played the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT back in October of 2019 and the footage of it will be aired on May 01st.

A second streaming show on May 08th will find them celebrating the 20th anniversary of their 5x multi-platinum album “Break The Cycle” with a full live performance. That set will take place at Mill 1 at Open Square in Holyoke, MA. Tickets for both events are available now through

The home release of “Live: It’s Been Awhile” occur on May 07th.
