Former Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has slammed Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer over his involvement in the U.S. Capitol Building riot on January 06th of this year, and the recently unveiled news that Schaffer has cut a deal to turn informant in exchange for a lessened prison sentence for his crimes.
Snider stated via his Twitter earlier today, April 18th:
“THIS PIECE OF SHIT IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE METAL COMMUNITY! First he shames us with his terrorist actions on in DC, and THEN he becomes a rat to his own people for a lighter sentence! MAN THE FUCK UP! Own your shit! If you do the crime, do the time!”

I'm glad for our country's sake that he's ratting, but it speaks volumes about the man he is. I was raised differently. You commit a crime, you shut up and take your punishment. You NEVER throw others under the bus. And you can bet your ass they aren't water boarding this POS. https://t.co/h8MT31gBYB

Let me be clear on this: No one should ever rat out or throw their friends, families or cohorts under the bus. That's pussy bullshit. It's a problem with today's society. Everyone is so "tough" until they get caught. Then they are quick to blame everyone else. https://t.co/tkSJVuloIf

Schaffer was found to have participated in the U.S. Capitol Building riot and was among those to breach the building itself. He recently entered a guilty plea to two of the six charges he was originally facing as part of a plea agreement. That agreement requires him to fully cooperate with the authorities, presumably offering information on the inner workings of the far-right militia group, the Oath Keepers.
Schaffer was seen to be wearing a lifetime member hat of that organization during his time at the riots, and also during past far-right related protests. According to a report this week filed by Newsweek, Schaffer “acknowledged he is a founding lifetime member of the Oath Keepers” in his plea agreement. Several members of that organization have been arrested and are facing charges for their participation in that riot.
Schaffer had originally been facing up to 30 years in prison for his involvement and role in the riots. Dependent on how beneficial his cooperation and potential testimony is, he currently stands to serve 3-4 years.
