When former Chelsea Grin guitarist Dan Jones initially took some time off from the band back in 2015 to research microbial mercury methylation, some of the band’s fans were left scratching their heads. Since leaving the group fully in 2017, Jones has continued his studies in the medical field at the University Of Utah School Of Medicine and is now well on his way to becoming a general surgeon, having recently been matched into a residency in the surgery department at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, NY.
General surgeons usually require a 5 year post graduate residency training period before becoming fully accredited. Jones recently commented on being matched:
Absolutely thrilled to have matched at Cornell in NYC for my general surgery residency! This is a dream come true. Thank you to all who have supported me along the way. @WCMSurgery see you in a few short weeks!
