Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Score Two New Academy Award Nominations

Nine Inch Nails duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross notched two more Oscar nominations today (March 15th). The pair’s work on director David Fincher‘s latest film ‘Mank‘ picked up a nod for the ‘Best Original Score’ at the upcoming 93rd Academy Awards. Likewise, their collaborative score with Jon Batiste for the animated Pixar film ‘Soul‘ also picked up a nomination of its own in that same category.

The other nominees for ‘Best Original Score’ this year include Terence Blanchard for ‘Da 5 Bloods‘, Emile Mosseri for ‘Minari‘ and James Newton Howard for ‘News Of The World‘. This year’s Academy Awards ceremony will be held on April 25th, 2021.

Reznor and Ross recently experienced a similar situation at the Golden Globe Awards when their work on both of the aforementioned films received separate nominations in the ‘Best Original Score – Motion Picture’ category. The group’s collaborative work with Jon Batiste for ‘Soul‘ ultimately took home that award late last month.

Reznor and Ross‘ scoring work continues to earn them accolades, having also won a Golden Globe Award for their work on ‘The Social Network‘, a Grammy Award for ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo‘ and an Oscar for ‘The Social Network‘. Their score for the HBO TV adaptation of ‘Watchmen‘ also saw them take home an Emmy Award last year.
