Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello Responds To Being Accused Of Using His ‘White Man Privilege’


Social media isn’t always an easy ride and any musician with outspoken political views—especially in this day and age—can expect a fair amount of backlash. Of course, the majority of Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, etc. guitarist Tom Morello‘s musical career has been based around politics, and as we’ve seen in the past, he’s become quite adept at succinctly shutting down his dissenters.

In a tweet referencing this story about his friendship with the notoriously right-wing Ted Nugent (a friendship he’s also spoken of in the past,) a user on Twitter accused Morello of invoking his ‘white man privilege’. While some have gone to argue of the semantics of the accusation, Morello himself took a blunt approach in his response, offering:
