Bloodclot (Cro-Mags JM, Quicksand, Ex-Glassjaw, Etc.) Readying New Album

Bloodclot, the John Joseph (Cro-Mags JM) fronted hardcore supergroup, are planning to release a new album later this year. Additionally, the outfit have revamped their lineup with guitarist Tom Capone (Quicksand, Old), bassist Manny Carrero (ex-Glassjaw/Burn, etc.) and drummer Darren Morgenthaler (ex-Madball, etc.) all having joined up. The track “Save The Robots” from this latest incarnation of the group can be heard below.

Bloodclot went on hiatus following the 2018 passing of the band’s guitarist Todd Youth. In addition to Youth, Bloodclot‘s previous lineup featured ex-Queens Of The Stone Age/Kyuss, etc. bassist Nick Oliveri and former Danzig/Queens Of The Stone Age drummer Joey Castillo.

Speaking of taking a break in the wake of Youth‘s passing, Joseph offered, “Todd passed away just after ‘Up in Arms‘ was released and we did one U.S. tour. Bloodclot was hit hard. It took us by complete surprise. I’ve known Todd since the early ‘80s so it wasn’t just losing a band member, he was a solid friend of mine – like a little brother actually.”

As for the new additions to the roster, he offered, “I decided I needed to work with local NYC musicians. The one prerequisite I had was that everyone in the band needed to make Bloodclot their number one priority in terms of any other projects. All agreed and we hit the studio. Everything flowed.”

A new studio album from the band is due out later in the year. Joseph is also readying a new cooking book dubbed ‘Hardcore Kitchen‘ for a May release. He commented of it, “The cookbook has over 100 gourmet recipes I’ve created in the last 40 years of being plant-based. It’s my go to source of fuel for Ironman training and competition. They will fuel your kick-ass life!”
