Hansi Kürsch Exits Demons & Wizards Following Jon Schaffer’s Arrest

Hansi Kürsch (of Blind Guardian fame) has exited Demons & Wizards in the wake of his longtime bandmate Jon Schaffer‘s (also of Iced Earth) involvement in the U.S. Capitol Building riot which took place last month.

Schaffer was wanted by the FBI and the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia for his role in those riots, having been caught on surveillance and camera as having breached the building.

The U.S. Department Of Justice allege that Schaffer used bear spray on Capitol police during the riot and he currently faces six charges for his involvement. Schaffer turned himself in to the FBI on January 17th and most recently was placed in custody of U.S. Marshals while awaiting extradition to Washington, D.C..

Kürsch told RockHard in a statement issued today, February 01st, that he has severed ties with Demons & Wizards, offering:

“I told Jon and Century Media on Monday that I was leaving the Demons & Wizards project with immediate effect. My collaboration with Jon in Demons & Wizards is over.”

Both Demons & Wizards and Iced Earth have disappeared from the public roster of Century Media Records‘ official website since word of Schaffer‘s participation in the riots emerged.
