Agonia Records Draw Backlash For Releasing New Inquisition Album Despite Frontman’s Dagon’s Past Child Porn-Related Charges

Agonia Records have come under fire for their recent signing of Inquisition. You may recall that the long-running black metal band were dropped from Season Of Mist back in 2018 after it came to light that the band’s frontman Jason “Dagon” Weirbach had accepted a plea bargain in relation to possession of child pornography back in 2009. Court documents at the time found Weirbach initially charged with Unlawful Display of Sexually Explicit Material and Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer.

In the aftermath of the past charges coming to light, the band were soon dropped from a tour with Satyricon and the 2018 ‘Maryland Deathfest‘ as well. Weirbach at the time issued this statement blaming an ‘unwise choice of actions’  and claiming ‘I was absolutely innocent of all charges.’ His statement seemed at least contradictory in part to the police reports from the court records, which stated that images depicting minors presumed to be as young as 10-12 years old engaged in sexual acts were found to have been recently deleted in the unallocated space of his computer.

Adding to the problematic nature of Inquisition‘s recent signing and November 20th release of their new album “Black Mass For A Mass Grave” were accusations of the band’s past ties to nazism, allegations which the band have publicly denied in the past.

Upon being called out for the signing/release on social media, Agonia Records initially defended their actions with responses such as the ones seen below, which only added fuel to the fire.

MetalSucks now report that the label have currently put their official Twitter profile on protected and are said to have blocked a number of people who complained about the signing on social media.
