Marilyn Manson‘s PR team has now issued a statement addressing various concerns raised by Metal Hammer during a recent interview. In that interview, Manson himself abruptly hung up shortly after being asked about abuse allegations made by his former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood. While Wood never publicly named her abuser, some have assumed the timeline of past testimony she has given may line up with her past relationship with Manson.

Metal Hammer are reporting that Marilyn Manson hung up on a recent interview with them after being asked about his past fiancée, actress Evan Rachel Wood and her apparent abuse allegations. According to the publication, Manson hung up after her name was mentioned, with the following response offered:
“This is where I head out to the photoshoot, because I talk about music. I’m not here to talk about rumors. I understand that you have to ask a question like that, but I don’t want to talk about rumors as music as I want to talk about music.”
When pressed for further comment, he stated, “Like I said, I won’t qualify it with an answer” before hanging up.
Wood has in the past given testimony in front of a California Senate Public Safety committee and a House Judiciary Subcommittee of an abusive relationship she had around her late teens (see here and here). While not identified by name, rampant speculation on the timeline of her account have led some to believe that Manson may have been the abuser she was describing.
While Manson has previously made clear in the press that there’s no love lost between him and Wood, he does not appear to have ever publicly addressed the aforementioned allegations some feel were pointed towards him.
