Bring Me The Horizon Gave Evanescence’s Amy Lee A Writing Credit After ‘Subconsciously’ Stealing One Of Her Verses On “Nihilist Blues”


In what may seem as an odd turn of events, Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee guesting on Bring Me The Horizon‘s newly released EP “Post Human: Survival Horror” came about from apparent legal action behind the scenes. In a piece published earlier today, October 30th, Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes told NME of that:

“The weird thing about Evanescence is that we got sued by them on our last record. On ‘nihilist blues,’ we ripped off one of their verses. It was subconscious, but when it happened we were like, ‘We’re not even going to argue.'”

nihilist blues” saw Bring Me The Horizon team up with Grimes and appeared on their 2019 release, “amo“. While not specified, it is presumed the Evanescence track in question is “Never Go Back” from Evanescence‘s 2011 self-titled album.

The band resolved the aforementioned situation by giving Lee a writing credit on “nihilist blues“, which led to the pair eventually collaborating together on their new track “One Day The Only Butterflies Left Will Be In Your Chest As You March Towards Your Death“.

Since speaking to NME, Sykes clarified his comments on Twitter earlier today, October 30th, with Lee also chiming in:
