Alex Van Halen, brother and bandmate of the late Eddie Van Halen, has broken his silence on his brother’s untimely passing to cancer earlier this week. Alex sent out the following brief tribute alongside a photo of himself and Eddie in their much younger years:

Various other former members of the band have also since commented on Eddie‘s passing, you can read what they had to say here. Eddie passed away surrounded by his family this past Tuesday, October 06th, following a lengthy battle with throat cancer. He was 65-years-old.
In other news, Billboard report that Van Halen‘s catalog saw a 6,198% sales increase on October 06th alone. Initial data shows the band’s collected albums and songs having sold 40,000 copies on October 06th as mourning fans sought out the band’s music.
