Deftones’ Australian/New Zealand Tour Postponed

With the Australian ‘Download Festival‘ shows having just being cancelled following headliners My Chemical Romance pulling out of the bill, the Deftones planned Australian/New Zealand tour has been postponed. Both cancellations arose out of growing concerns over the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Deftones themselves had booked several dates in New Zealand an Australia around the aforementioned festival stops, two of which would have seen them out with Baroness. The affected dates include:

03/15 Auckland, NZ – Trusts Arena
03/18 Brisbane, AUS – Fortitude Music Hall (feat. Baroness)
03/20 Melbourne, AUS – Download Festival
03/21 Sydney, AUS – Download Festival
03/23 Adelaide, AUS – Thebarton Theatre (feat. Baroness)

In a statement on the matter, Deftones said:

“Due to My Chemical Romance‘s decision to pull out of the Download Festival in Australia, the festival organizers have decided to cancel the shows, and our tour as a result. We understand the growing global situation and concern, and support whatever decisions need to be made, but we are committed to rescheduling our shows for later in the year. Details on that soon.

In the meantime, all existing tickets will remain valid for the new shows, so please stay tuned while we work to reschedule the dates. Fans unable to attend the new dates can obtain a refund from the point of purchase.

Please stay safe.”
