Primus May Be Paying Tribute To Rush On Rumored Tour With Wolfmother & The Sword

Primus, Wolfmother and The Sword will apparently be touring together this summer. A since-deleted venue listing has the three band’s performing together at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ on June 20th. Interestingly, the tour is billed as a ‘Tribute To Kings Tour‘. That title has led to some speculation that Primus may be paying tribute to the music of Rush on the trek.

Primus had been performing portions of Rush‘s “Cygnus X-1…” from the legendary Canadian group’s “A Farewell To Kings” album late last year during their run with Slayer and more (see below.) Primus of course have long been devout Rush fans and covered the band in the past as well.

With this past January’s passing of Rush‘s Neil Peart to brain cancer, such a tribute certainly wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility. That said, there has been nothing official to come down on the matter as of yet.

Currently Primus have the following lone festival date confirmed for 2020:

06/12 Manchester, TN – Bonnaroo (tickets) may receive a commission from tickets purchased through the links in the above post.
