Grey Daze‘s compilation of reworked versions of their earlier material will see an April 10th release as “Amends” via Loma Vista Recordings. Fronted by the late Chester Bennington during his pre-Linkin Park days, the band reunited with him in the months prior to his death. With the approval of Bennington‘s family, the group set out to rework and re-record songs from earlier in their career around Bennington‘s original vocal tracks.
To help flesh out their vision, they invited a number of his friends into the process. Among those who took part are Brian “Head” Welch & James “Munky” Shaffer of Korn, Page Hamilton of Helmet, Jasen Rauch of Breaking Benjamin, Chris Traynor of Bush, Ryan Shuck of Julien-K/Adema fame and LP. Bennington‘s son Jaime also makes a cameo.
Speaking recently Rollingstone.com, Chester‘s widow Talinda commented:
“He wanted to do Grey Daze again because the music was awesome, he loved it back then, and he was excited to be able to create. Doing it now that he had all this experience under his belt – he had accomplished so much and come so far since then – he was excited about it. I can hear him now. He’s like, ‘Fuck yeah!’”
