Chester Bennington’s Early Band Grey Daze Explored In New Mini-Documentary

A new mini-documentary on Grey Daze—the early band of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington—debuted online today, January 23rd. The documentary finds his family, bandmates and more discussing his time in the group, which he had reunited with in the months prior to his death back in July of 2017.

With the blessing of Bennington‘s family, the band have since re-recorded a collection of their early material with plans to release it later this year via Loma Vista Recordings. Bennington‘s son Jamie is among those who contributed to the sessions for it. Brian “Head” Welch & James “Munky” Shaffer of Korn and LP also contributed to the record, as did Chris Traynor of Bush fame.

Chester‘s former Dead By Sunrise bandmate Ryan Shuck (also of Adema) and P.O.D.‘s Marcos Curiel were present in the studio during some of the sessions, though it is unclear if they were involved. The mini-doc does touch upon that time in the studio, which were saw Traynor and Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach/Drowning Pool) take on the production duties. It also offers insight as to what the band’s vision was for this coming record.

While there’s no official release date or title as of yet for that set, a re-recorded version of the Grey Daze track “What’s In The Eye” from it arrived online last week and can be heard here.
