Former Pantera/Damageplan, etc. sound engineer Aaron “Crank Wirez” Barnes was arrested for possession and promotion of child pornography as well as possession of methamphetamine in Plano, TX late last month. In addition to frequently touring with Pantera, and later Damageplan as “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott‘s personal sound guy, he also appeared in several scenes of Pantera‘s home video series.
His working relationship with Pantera also saw him credited as a recording assistant on Pantera‘s “The Great Southern Trendkill” and “Official Live: 101 Proof” releases. He also took part in Pantera‘s ‘Behind The Music‘ episode. Barnes was also present as a member of Damageplan‘s road crew the night Abbott was tragically murdered onstage.
Mytexasdaily.com report that the 60-year-old Barnes was arrested on December 19th, 2019 with police seizing several digital devices from his home which he is believed to have used to view and promote child pornography. They also found eight grams of methamphetamine in his possession. He was booked and held on a $25,000 bond.
