As I Lay Dying’s Phil Sgrosso: “I Think Over Time People Will See The Positive Change In Tim”

While As I Lay Dying‘s return to active duty following Tim Lambesis‘s time in prison has found them selling out shows across the globe, Lambesis‘ involvement still remains a sticking point for some Back in 2013 he was arrested after having attempted to hire an undercover police officer posing as a hitman to murder his then estranged wife back in 2013. He would eventually go on to plead guilty to a charge of solicitation of another to commit murder and was paroled from prison in late 2016.

Lambesis was shown to have been suffering from addiction to steroids around the time of his imprisonment. Since his release he has been certified as an addiction treatment counselor, while also getting married once again. Lambesis has apologized for his past actions several times since his release, however, the band did see several shows and live appearances cancelled amid controversy over his criminal past.

In a new interview with HoustonPress, LambesisAs I Lay Dying bandmate Phil Sgrosso had the following to say of the reception to Lambesis‘ return:

“It’s different for everybody on how they want to react to it but I think over time people will see the positive change in Tim. They’ll see the new person that he’s become as well as the new person he’s still trying to become, and the positive impact he’s trying to have on others.”

This past May saw the As I Lay Dying team up with August Burns Red vocalist Jake LuhrsHeartSupport organization to release a new mini-documentary titled ‘Misery Evolving‘. That doc finds the band attempting to tell their complicated story in their own words.
