Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Won A Country Music Association Award Today

Nine Inch NailsTrent Reznor & Atticus Ross have officially added a CMA (Country Music Association Award) to their collection of awards. Reznor won the award for his unintentional production work on Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus‘ record setting hit, “Old Town Road“. The remix of that track took home the award for ‘Musical Event Of The Year’ today ahead of tonight’s 53rd annual CMA Awards ceremony.

Old Town Road” sampled a part of Nine Inch Nails‘ “34 Ghosts IV“. While unauthorized at first, Reznor decided to not shut the track down and gave Lil Nas X clearance to keep the song up while the proper licensing arrangement was worked out. Both Reznor and Ross were ultimately given a production credit on the track. If you missed it, Reznor broke his silence on being involved with that 10x multi-platinum track earlier this past October.
