It Looks Like The Deftones Are Planning To Perform A Track From Their Shelved “Eros” Album Live

The Deftones are set to take the stage tonight (November 02nd) as the headliners at their second annual ‘Dia de los Deftones‘ festival at Petco Park in San Diego, CA. Footage of them soundchecking for that performance has emerged online and appears to find them preparing for the first official live performance of their shelved track “Smile“. Some fan-filmed footage of that can be found below. Their rarely played track, “Romantic Dreams“, was reportedly played during the same soundcheck.

Smile” was originally written for the unfinished Deftones album “Eros“, which the band put on hold following the tragic car accident that ultimately claimed the life of their bassist Chi Cheng. The record features Cheng‘s last material with the group. Deftones frontman/guitarist Chino Moreno briefly shared “Smile” online back in 2014 on the first anniversary of Cheng‘s passing.
