Stick To Your Guns’ Jesse Barnett Releases New Wish You Were Here Outing “I’m Afraid Of Everything”

Stick To Your Guns, etc. frontman/guitarist Jesse Barnett has stepped out with a new outing from his Wish You Were Here project. That record is titled “I’m Afraid Of Everything” and saw a release today, September 27th. Barnett recorded the effort amid a period of soul searching, saying of the impetus for the project:

“I had a hard time learning how to navigate between normal life and tour life. My long term relationship was ending, and I was getting frustrated with being in a band because I blamed touring for not being able to make my relationship work. You can plan your whole life but it can be completely uprooted. I needed something to make sense of everything that was happening.”

He also mentioned that the style of the project stays close to hits earliest roots in music:

“I grew up in a family that just really appreciated good music, so stuff like Paul Simon, James Taylor, and Bill Withers was always playing around the house. I didn’t find punk and hardcore until high school, but I was already playing acoustic guitar and singing, so that kind of music is actually closer to my musical ‘origin story’ than punk.”

You can pick up the EP now over at Speaking of the below new music video, Barnett commented:

“A few days before Christmas in 2017 I was living alone in Montreal. I got a call from my mother and she had let me know about an overdose in my family. I didn’t really have much to say. After we hung up immediately wrote this song. This song is for Nick.”
