Back in May, Queens Of The Stone Age linchpin Josh Homme made this post which seemingly teased that the he would be resurrecting ‘The Desert Sessions‘ series of releases. Now comes this report from The New York Times that the guest stacked series of collaborations will indeed continue with Volumes 11 & 12 tentatively expected to see a release in October through Matador.
According to the report, the sessions took place last fall in Joshua Tree, CA (presumably at Rancho de la Luna) and the initial guests for the eight included songs include:
Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top)
Les Claypool (Primus)
Carla Azar (Jack White)
Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint)
Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters)
Furthermore, an official website has launched at desertsessions.com while this Instagram has been sharing a similar series of cryptic symbols. The forthcoming two volumes in the series will be the first since 2003.
