Tool‘s return to the scene with their first new album in 13 years has been a bonafide event for rock and metal fans in the music scene with the band seemingly having bested mega pop star Taylor Swift, unseating her from the #1 spot in the U.S. just one week after the release of her new album “Lover“.

While the charts for the U.S. have yet to be made official, Hits Daily Double forecast that “Fear Inoculum” will enter the Billboard 200 at #1 with some 270,4000 units sold during the records first week of availability. Swift‘s album is expected to sink to #2 with 184,411 units.

The news that Swift has been unseated so quickly didn’t sit well with some of her loyal fans, generating hundreds, if not thousands of response, of anger towards Tool on social media. Swift fans don’t have much to complain about though, “Lover” racked up an astounding 867,000 units in the U.S. during its first week on the charts, 679,000 of which were pure album sales.

In light of the news of their imminent arrival atop the charts, Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan opted for humor in the form of an ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ meme:

While it is seemingly all but certain Tool have won the battle in the U.S., they’ll have to settle for #4 in the UK, with Lana Del Ray claiming the top spot and Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift rounding out the top 3.
