Unsane Appear To Have Broken Up

It would appear that Unsane are no longer—or at least not with founding vocalist/guitarist Chris Spencer at the helm. The news broke earlier this month and appears to be final, with no elaborate statement or clarification having emerged since.

Spencer himself told Equilibrio Precario that he would no longer be playing with Unsane when asked about the band’s status earlier this month:

“I won’t be playing in Unsane anymore. Human Impact will be the only band I see myself playing in for a while.”

Spencer followed that up with a Facebook comment, stating:

“Just to clarify, I will not be playing in Unsane anymore. I’m super proud of what we accomplished, but I need to move on. I’d rather end it on a good note than be a slave to something that I’ve always loved.”

As Spencer mentioned above, he has been focusing on his new band Human Impact, who will play their first live show at the Union Pool in Brooklyn, NY tomorrow, August 30th.

His bandmates in that new venture include:

Jim Coleman (Cop Shoot Cop, etc.)
Phil Puleo (Cop Shoot Cop, Swans, etc.)
Chris Provdica (Swans, Xiu Xiu)
