Hear Refused Perform New Track “Never Fade Away” As ‘Samurai’

Refused have released another song as their fictional alter ego ‘Samurai‘. The band took on that moniker as part of being tasked with creating some original music for the upcoming video game ‘Cyberpunk 2077‘, which is out April 16th, 2020. Speaking of this latest track, “Never Fade Away“, the band commented:

“When CD PROJEKT RED approached us about writing music for ‘Cyberpunk 2077‘, we jumped at the chance. Partly because of the challenge: to write music for a fictional band that was similar to Refused, but quite different at the same time, having the music and lyrics be shaped and determined by the feel, tone and plot of an outside narrative.

The timing was perfect, we had just finished ‘War Music‘ and were still in the zone songwriting-wise. Most importantly though, it seemed to us sort of like a 2019 version of when Cannibal Corpse was in ‘Ace Ventura: Pet Detective‘, in other words: very cool.

Props to P.T. Adamczyk, in-house composer at CDPR, for having the vision, writing it with us, producing and seeing the whole thing through. And no, we had no idea that dude from Steve Martin‘s ‘Parenthood‘ was gonna be the lead singer.”

Refused‘s new studio album “War Music” is due out October 18th on Spinefarm/Search And Destroy.
