The Acacia Strain have found themselves dragged into this morning’s (August 04th) mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio which saw the shooter, a 24-year-old white male, kill nine people and wound at least 27 others in a nightlife section of the Oregon District of the city.
A photo circulating from the scene, allegedly of the shooter’s body after being shot dead by responding police, saw the lifeless individual wearing a hoodie from The Acacia Strain featuring the lyrics from the band’s song “Ramirez“. This led to initial local news reports such as the one below:
Suspect in #Dayton shooting was wearing shorts with a black sweatshirt that read: "No heart to fear, no soul to steal."
The slogan is believed to be from a hateful and vengeful song called Ramirez by The Acacia Strain, a metalcore band.

Upon hearing of the news, The Acacia Strain frontman Vincent Bennett took to social media to comment on the matter:
What happened in Dayton is horrifying. Even more so to know that the shooter was wearing a TAS hoodie is making me sick. There is no excuse for this. Anyone who knows anything knows we don’t condone this behavior. No one has the right to take another’s life.

Music is an outlet. Music should purify. Use art as a positive outlet to your negative emotions. If you feel angry – turn to music, turn to creation. This has to stop.
