Cannibal Corpse’s Frontman Says Group Look Forward To Return Of Pat O’Brien: “We’re Behind Him 100 Percent”

Though Cannibal Corpse guitarist Pat O’Brien has been absent from the band since his December 2018 arrest, the group remain hopeful for his return. O’Brien was involved in a bizzare incident that saw him break into a neighboring home and allegedly lunging at a police officer with a knife as his own house went up in flames with over 80 firearms and more inside of it late last year.

In a statement shared shortly after the incident, the band said in part that “Pat is getting the help he needs and appreciates the love and support from Cannibal Corpse fans around the world.”

With some months having now passed, their feelings toward him have not changed as frontman George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher has reaffirmed his support for O’Brien and his eventual return to the group. Speaking with Hatebreed‘s Jamey Jasta on ‘The Jasta Show‘, Fisher stated:

“We love him,. We want him back. But when I saw him in the court with the [anti-suicide] vest, dude, I cried. Because we just got home from tour… We wish the best for him, and we’re just waiting to see [what happens]. He’s got a road ahead of him still with legal issues, and that’s out of our hands. We support him 100 percent; we’re behind him 100 percent.”

The band toured earlier this year with Hate Eternal‘s Erik Rutan filling in for O’Brien.
